At ADA Safety we have developed a training package for primary schools pupils, years 3 to 5, on recycling and waste management. The presentation involves classroom activities and aligns itself to the school curriculum around recycling.
The presentation, includes activities such as quizzes, classroom interaction, decision-making and debating sessions, which follow a set lesson plan that reinforces the extremely good work that is being done at present around recycling and we believe that it fits in well with the sustainability green flag award requirements. The presentation also involves a little local geography and arithmetic. Finally we finish the session with the pupils looking at and handling a number of items that have been recycled.

We also leave with the school a DVD with follow up exercises’ which re-enforce the presentation and can be used as a refresher tool throughout the school year. We have also educational signs and a variety of waste segregation bins purely designed and manufactured to support the project.
Learning Objectives of our presentation are as follows,
To empower the children to realise that they can make a big difference to their own environment.
So that they understand why separating waste is so important to the environment.
To learn how to separate waste and the meaning of segregation.
To engage in discussion and work collaboratively.
We have piloted this presentation with several primary schools and it went extremely well, so much so that we will be revisiting these schools again on a yearly basis. Recommendations are available.
Along with our schools activities we have waste management and recycling educational packages for all ages.
As part of our business we can provide a range of waste segregation systems including the management of waste products and disposal. This entails general waste segregation, confidential waste disposal and contaminated waste products.
